Supreme/StarTrans President Sentinel | Sentinel Sport Top | Candidate | Senator | Senator Heavy Duty | President | The new President combines StarTrans's traditional quality craftsmanship and attention with a heavier-duty chassis for medium-distance transportation needs. With a seating capacity of up to 33 passengers, the President is ideal for charter tours, college transportation, corporate shuttles, ADA-accessible fixed transit, municipal transit and custom specialty needs. The President's attractive exterior comes from Alucobond, an aluminum/rubber laminate that allows for seamless construction front-to-back, so the President's sidewalls are straighter than those using a seamed sheet construction. Alucobond also contributes to durability and lasting value. Underneath this stylish exterior, however, you'll find a heart of solid steel in the cage frame, built on the Freightliner/MB front engine bus rail chassis. Available in three sizes (31', 29' and 27') on either a 208" or 190" wheelbase, the President has a maximum gross vehicle rating of 19,000 pounds. It is powered by the reliable Cummins diesel engine with an Allison automatic transmission. It also features wide interior isles and doors, plush upholstery, spacious luggage racks and more. Several enhancements to the traditional medium-duty transit body and interior give the President Series a significant edge in aesthetics and passenger comfort. Innovative, panoramic double-slider 26% tint windows, an advancement over the industry standard of single-slider windows, improve ventilation, air circulation and visibility. Seating is elevated six inches above the coach-type sunken center aisle for maximum headroom while your passengers stand, and maximum visibility when they're seated. And the custom-designed driver's area and control center gives this medium-sized vehicle a big coach feel. The President Series is available in dozens of floorplans with a wide range of accessories and options, including a variety of luxury fabric interior treatments, multiple TVs and video monitor systems for passenger entertainment. Special floorplans with wheel chair lifts, tie-downs and double wheel chair lift doors can be incorporated to meet federal ADA requirements.
CHASSIS SPECIFICATIONS
SUBFLOOR: Crossmembers made from 3" "I" beams welded to "L" mounting brackets, bolted to OEM frame rails with grade 8 bolts. Outside perimeter rails comprised of 14 gauge 2-1/2" x 1-1/2" L steel. Track seating support made of 14 gauge 3/4" x 3" C Channel. Wheelwells are of 16 gauge stainless steel while the subfloor is welded in floor jig. FLOORING: Passenger compartment features 1-1/4" "Marine Tec" plywood with one piece .025 aluminum vapor barrier laminated to floor bottom. The driver cab area is comprised of 3/4" "Marine Tec" plywood with an 18 gauge steel under pan. FLOOR COVERING: Passenger compartment with black RCA 3/16" ribbed center aisle and 1/8" smooth, rubber under seats. The driver compartment is covered with automotive-style rubber while the entry steps are covered with ribbed rubber and white step nosing at each level. SIDEWALLS: Steel tube sidewall constructed of 1-1/2" x 1-1/2" 14 gauge steel tubing to form a vertical and horizontal sidewall frame. Sidewall is welded in sidewall jig. ROOF: Steel tube roof constructed of 1" x 1" 14 gauge steel tubing to form a vertical and horizontal roof frame. Roof is welded in roof jig and welded to the sidewalls to form a single unitized steel structure. OUTER SKIN: Sidewall and roof steel structure is covered with 4mm "Alucobond" composite (Alucobond has an outer and inner aluminum skin with a composite core for strength). Alucobond aluminum skin allows for a seamless construction. INSULATION: The passenger insulation area consists of two layers of aluminum foil laminated to the outside of heavy-duty polyethylene air-bubble cushioning. These bubbles form trapped air spaces between the foil surfaces to give the body excellent "R" values, reflecting heat in both directions to keep the vehicle warm in winter and cool in summer. ("R" values in ceiling - 16, "R" values in walls - 8.2.) DRIVER AREA: The engine compartment is insulated from engine noise with a composite barrier/adsorption material which features a metalized polyester film facing (for contamination resistance), a one-inch thick urethane foam (for sound absorption) a filled, flexible 1.6 lb./sq. ft. barrier (for sound transmission loss) and a 0.25 inch urethane foam spacer layer. The driver area is further protected from engine noise by a floor mat that combines a polyurethane foam spacer (0.25 and 0.5 thickness, respectively) with a 1.0 lb./sq. ft., heavy plastic barrier and a reinforced vinyl with excellent wear characteristics. WINDOWS: Windshield tempered safety glass ASI rated curved to match front contour 32" x 96" (2 piece with center divider) sidewall windows tempered safety glass AS3 rated with 26% tint. Side windows 37" x 47" with double Top-T-Sliders. Egress windows installed to meet FMVSS 217 requirements. ENTRY DOOR: Electric double-out entry door (32" x 92") clear opening with left side entry assist handrail. Door panels are white fiberglass with upper and lower AS2 rated glass for best possible visibility. The entry step has lights on each side. ELECTRICAL: Wiring is color-coded with number and function designated every 6" to enable identification and circuit traceability. Only premium specification J1128-SXL or GXL high temp (8 to 14 gauge) wiring used in order to meet Society of Automotive Engineers (S.A.E.) requirements. Interior standard insulated connectors and sealable (silicone) insulated exterior connectors are used. EXTERIOR FRONT/REAR AND SKIRT: Front-rear caps and side skirts are white gelcoated 1/4" fiberglass completely backed with steel perimeter and transverse support welded to the sidewall and roof steel structure. RUB RAIL: Black, high-impact molded rub rail is installed at floor line on each side the full length of the body. INTERIOR FINISH: The rear wall and headliner of the interior sidewalls are finished out with white or gray .125 high impact A.B.S. All interior trim parts are of high impact A.B.S. DRIVER SIDE CONTROL CENTER: Functions include a user friendly left hand control console center. Back light control center houses all switches and heater and A/C system controls. EXTERIOR MIRRORS: High-mount flat and convex mirrors with driver's side power controls on left and right side. PLEXIGLAS SUNVISORS: On driver and passenger side with multi-position plexiglas visors. WINDSHEILD WIPERS: Dual electric intermittent windshield wipers. STEEL BUMPERS: Front and rear formed steel bumpers painted to match body paint. BATTERIES: Dual 1400 CCA 8-D batteries on roadside with slide-out tray. Driver Instrument Panel: Includes fuel-oil-temperature gauges; low air pressure light and buzzer system; electric speedometer with odometer and tripometer; electric tachometer and volt gauge. EXTERIOR LIGHTS: Include headlights; turn signal lights; brake lights and marker lights FMVSS 108. DRIVER DEFROSTER SYSTEM: 32,000 BTU @ 450 CFM DRIVER CAB HEATER SYSTEM: 32,000 BTU @ 550 CFM DRIVER CAB A/C SYSTEM: 42,000 BTU @ 550 CFM INTERIOR LIGHTS: Flush mounting ceiling courtesy light (10). ELECTRICAL COMPARTMENT CENTER: Located streetside with exterior access designed to house all electrical components for the bus system. FLUID CENTER: Located streetside with exterior access designed to house the water overflow bottle; windshield wiper fluid; power steering reservoir; power brake reservoir. DRIVER'S SEAT: High-back bucket with recliner. FUEL DOOR: Lockable exterior aluminum fuel door. OPTIONAL A/C AND HEAT: A/C systems ranging in size from 72,000 BTU to 120,000 BTU with rear heat ranging from 40,000 BTU to 110,000 BTU. OPTIONAL PARATRANSIT: Wheelchair accessibility with a wide range of securement systems, seating arrangements and wheelchair lifts. OPTIONAL LUGGAGE: Luggage can be stored in the over-seat luggage compartment, floor-to-ceiling luggage racks, rear compartments or custom-designed areas.
